Arthur's Christmas is the ninth book in the Arthur Adventure series. It was written and illustrated by Marc Brown and published by Little, Brown and Company on October 30, 1984. It was republished in 1999 with a reillustrated cover, although the page illustrations were recycled from the original 1984 edition.
Christmas is only days away and Arthur can't find the perfect gift to give Santa! Finally, he has an idea and with a little help from his sister, Christmas will be a success!
- Arthur Read
- D.W. Read
- Jane Read
- David Read
- Grandma Thora (debut)
- Francine Frensky
- Santa Claus
- Buster Baxter
- This book also introduces Grandma Thora's dog Killer. Since then, she hasn't appeared again until the 2005 episode "It Came From Beyond" which was her first appearance in the animated series.
- This is the first appearance of Arthur and D.W.'s paternal grandmother (also known as David's mother) Grandma Thora Read, who is modeled after the author's grandmother with the same given name.
- In this book, Francine was seen sitting on Santa Claus's lap; but in the cartoon special Arthur's Perfect Christmas (as well as its book adaptation), her family is Jewish, which is a much different storyline compared to this book.
