Michael Yarmush Older

Michael Yarmush (born June 19, 1982) is an American born Canadian television actor. He was the original voice of Arthur Read for the TV series, voicing the character from Season 1 to Season 5 and Arthur's Perfect Christmas. He departed the show after his voice became too deep due to puberty, and was replaced by Justin Bradley beginning with the sixth season.

Marc Brown states that he and the rest of the creative team were very attached to Yarmush's performance as Arthur and so tried to keep him on the show for as long as possible, until his voice got too deep for him to continue.[1] Even after he aged out of the role, Yarmush continued to be involved in the series: he provided the voice of Tough Customers member Slink, and his Arthur voice continued to be heard in the opening theme. He also provided the voice of the waiter Jay in the Season 10 premiere "Happy Anniversary," which celebrated ten years of the series. Yarmush finally reprised the role he originated in the series finale, "All Grown Up", voicing the adult Arthur 20 years in the future.

Trivia[]

  • He is the longest-serving voice actor for Arthur Read, voicing him for 5 seasons and 85 episodes over the course of 4 years.
  • Stock audio of Yarmush's gasps and screams are used in some episodes of Season 1-5
  • His voice early on in Season 1 was notably raspier not too unlike Duncan Wold and Ben Ellis from the Living Books PC games. Towards the end of the season his voice became a bit higher and clearer, which he kept consistently for Seasons 2-4 before his voice matured fully in Season 5
